Today, 29 years pass since Aghdaban tragedy.

On the night from April 7th to 8th, 1992, the Armenian militants set fire to Kalbajar region's Aghdaban village consisting of 130 houses. 779 village residents were subjected to inhumane tortures, 67 people were murdered, 8 elderly people aged between 90-100, 2 underage children, 7 women were burnt alive.

As another reflection of the Armenian vandalism policy against the Azerbaijani cultural heritage, the manuscripts of poet Gurban from Aghdaban and other classical ashug poet Dede Shamshir were destroyed.

National leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev was the first person who gave legal assessment to this tragedy and called it a horrible crime and crime against humanity.
