Soldier Mardali Ashurov, who rescued our 20 compatriots from stepping on a mine in Kalbajar on April 16, has been awarded.

AzTV has prepared a reportage about this. It has been noted in the reportage that Mardali Ashurov has been sent on vacation for his exemplary service.

M. Ashurov is originally from Guba's Gimil village. It is highlighted in AzTV's reportage that Mardali's arrival was a surprise for his family too.

His 86-year-old grandmother Asya Ashurova says that Mardali has wanted to become a serviceman since his childhood: "He used to say, "I will go to the military, become a commander". He is a patriotic person."

He is the eldest son of the family consisting of 3 children. His brother Jamil Ashurov continues his education at the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. His father Farhad Ashurov notes that his sons have always been interested in the military. During the military service, this interest has turned into a profession: "When I ask him, he tells me, "Do not worry about anything. Here, everything is for the Motherland."

When it comes to the mine discovered in Gunashli village of Kalbajar, Mardali Ashurov recalls the event: "When a Kalbajar resident wanted to visit his house, the unit commander sent me to accompany him. We went there, I first entered the yard of the house. I discovered an anti-tank mine."

It has been determined as a result of the preliminary investigations that the anti-tank mine was planted there from November 10 to 25, 2020 - during the extra time given to the Armenians by Azerbaijan for handing over Kalbajar. The purpose was to commit a provocation against the civilians and achieve heavy human losses. If this mine was not discovered, the bus passing through this road would blow up, and all the 20 people would perish.

Azerbaijani soldiers have liberated the Motherland and also ensure the security of the people who return there.

The other soldiers, who demonstrated bravery alonside Mardali Ashurov, have also been awarded honorary diplomas.
