"During the Patriotic War, the Azerbaijan-Iran border was completely restored; the 132-km border was restored. Right after the war, fortification and security works have been launched throughout the border. The launch of this military unit is the clear example of that. Necessary works are being carried out across the entire border - both across the Azerbaijan-Iran and the Azerbaijan-Armenia borders," said President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting with border guards after the opening of a new military unit of the State Border Service on the Azerbaijan-Iran border during his visit to Jabrayil region.

"The Azerbaijan-Iran border is the border of friendship. The preservation of this border is also very important for the development of the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. We have borders with the Islamic Republic of Iran in other directions as well, and this is indeed the border of friendship, cooperation. The citizens of both countries benefit from this border. At the same time, the rising volume of cargo also indicates the development of the Azerbaijani-Iranian ties," the head of state highlighted.

Calling the Khudafarin bridge the symbol of the Azerbaijan-Iran friendship, the President noted that border guards had played a special role in the liberation of this area from the enemy. It was noted that our freedom struggle, that started in this direction, resulted in our victory after 44 days. The President said: "During the 44-day war, we never stepped back. During 44 days, every day was a victory day. During 44 days, despite all the efforts of Armenia, they could not carry out even one successful operation. They planned counter-attack operations in this direction and started realizing that. However, it was the beginning of their end, because their counter-attack operation was completely destroyed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces."
