Restoration of burnt forests launched – Region residents also join tree-planting campaign

Works on the restoration of the burnt forests and cut trees have been launched in Oghuz region.

Seeds were planted in the forests subjected to fires, tree-planting campaigns were held in Jalud and Khachmaz villages of the region with the participation of villagers, heads of villages, schoolchildren, representatives of the public and media.

The purpose of the campaign is to properly use the potential of the lands of the forests that are left without care and achieve the increase of territories covered with forests.

Over 100 residents of the region, including employees of Gabala Regional Forest Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, took part in the campaign.

During the campaign, the land was mitigated in the overall 10-ha territory. Seeds of different types of trees, especially oaks, were spread to the territory. Along with Gabala, this kind of forest restoration works are carried out in other regions as well. Overall, in this year’s autumn tree-planting season, forest restoration works are planned to be carried out in the 9, 000-ha territory. This kind of events will be continued in the upcoming tree-planting seasons as well.

By wide tree-planting events, the protection of the forest area by locals and public representatives, the increase of the forest cover, care for trees are promoted; the tradition of forest restoration events is launched.
