Representatives from French and Dutch colonies across Africa, as well as overseas territories held a peaceful rally in Baku under the slogan “Solidarity with green and decolonized world.”
During the rally, participants emphasized that the solidarity with green and decolonized world is based upon the idea that sustainable development and the autonomy of colonial countries are inseparable.
They expressed their protest against the looting of natural resources by the colonial powers, the impoverishment of the local population, and the degradation of the ecosystems.
The rally participants underlined that colonial powers such as France and the Netherlands and transnational corporations are responsible for the restoration of degraded ecosystems, noting that they must pay compensation for the environmental damage.
The representatives of these colonial countries demanded equal access to green technologies, calling for raising awareness of the people in developed countries about the effects of colonialism and the environmental challenges faced by formerly colonized countries.
