Exhibition of Azerbaijani carpets opens in U.S.

The exhibition of Azerbaijani carpets has opened in the administrative building of the U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. with the support of the Chamber of Commerce, “Azarkhalcha” OJSC and the Azerbaijani Embassy in the U.S.

AZTV.AZ reports that addressing the event, executive director of the Chamber Natig Bakhishov greeted guests and provided information about the exhibition.

Afterwards, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the U.S. Elin Suleymanov highlighted the importance of holding the exhibition of Azerbaijani carpets in Washington D.C. in terms of the promotion of the Azerbaijani culture and art and noted that the carpets had been weaved mainly by IDP women.

Representative of “Azerkhalcha” OJSC Orkhan Rzayev gave information about the ancient history of the carpet-weaving in Azerbaijan and emphasized that currently, this historical tradition is restored due to the special care of the Azerbaijani state.

It is noteworthy that a protocol of intent was signed between the U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and “Azarkhalcha” OJSC on November 26th of this year for 2020 to promote carpets weaved by Azerbaijani IDP women.
