President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev raised the Azerbaijani flag in Tartar region's Talish village on October 3.
The head of state delivered a speech: "Talish village was liberated from occupation by the Azerbaijani Army exactly a year ago. After one year, I am here, in the Azerbaijani land, liberated Talish village, and I have raised the Azerbaijani flag in Talish village.
One year ago, violent battles were underway here. May all the martyrs rest in peace! The liberation of Talish village has a special place among our successful operations, because very strong fortifications had been built here, the enemy had created several defense lines, and surely, they waited for us from here. In many operations, we attacked the enemy from unexpected places. However, the battlefield here is quite narrow, quite limited. Therefore, naturally, the enemy foe waited for us here, and we came despite anything. We came here shedding blood, sacrificing martyrs, we liberated Talish and Sugovushan villages from occupation exactly one year ago. It gave us a big strategic domination. It showed once again that the Armenian army was pathetic in front of the Azerbaijani Army, could not stand and that the victory was not far away. Today, Azerbaijan's sovereignty in this region has been ensured, all the infrastructure works have been carried out within one year. The main point is that Azerbaijani citizens will live in peace and prosperity here. Definitely, we will restore Talish village, life will return here."
Afterwards, President Ilham Aliyev visited the Albanian-Udi church in Talish village destructed by the Armenians.
The head of state said: "This is the ancient Albanian church. Look what the Armenians have done to this church. Then, they will say that this is an Armenian church. If it was an Armenian church, would they destroy it?! It will be preserved as a historical monument. All the religious monuments are preserved by the state in Azerbaijan. The monuments of all the confessions will further be preserved. We will restore this ancient Albanian church as well. Throughout 30 years, the Armenians only destroyed this region."
Later, President Ilham Aliyev visited the Russian Orthodox Church and noted: "This is the Russian Orthodox Church in Talish village. The Armenians have destroyed it as well. Look how it is now, they have destructed the stones, walls. Look at the current situation. We will also restore this church, we will repair it. Unlike the Armenians, we respect all the religious monuments."
