"Pensions of all categories will increase at least by 15% in Azerbaijan in 2020. If the minimum pension is 200 AZN now, next year, it will be 230 AZN,” said MP Musa Urud on the “Telemorning” program of Azerbaijan Television.

He said that the average monthly pension would also grow: “In accordance with the latest additions and amendments made in the law on labor pensions, pensions are indexed according to the increase percent of the average monthly income. In 2019, our average monthly salary grew by approximately 14%. It means that next year, pensions of all categories will increase at least by 15%. If the minimum pension is 200 AZN now, next year, it will be 230 AZN.

If currently, the average monthly pension is 250 AZN, next year, this number will reach 300 AZN”.

The MP highlighted that the expenditures of the 2020 state budget have increased by 6.8% compared to the current year: “After the Presidential elections held on April 11th, 2018, President Ilham Aliyev earned great trust of the people and announced that an all-round, deep and quality new period and deep reforms would begin in Azerbaijan.

Since the second half of last year, transparency works in the field of economics have been carried out in the country. As a result of this, about 1 bln AZN of additional finances have been collected. Mr. President has made the decision to forward the additional finances to the social protection of the population.

Thus, the first half of 2019 will remain in the history of our statehood as the deepest, all-rounded social reforms.

Furthermore, the expenditures of the 2020 state budget have grown by 6.8% compared to the current year. Social protection expenditures are set to increase by 23%. It means that next year, salaries, pensions and benefits will go up”.
