"We want to draw the attention of the Armenian side to the fact that the current status quo created as a result of the use of force and ethnic cleansing does not match the term of security at all. The occupation of the Azerbaijani territories and the presence of the Armenian armed forces in these territories are the main threat to the security of our country," said spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva commenting on the statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry on March 10 accusing Azerbaijan of escalating the situation on Azerbaijan-Armenia state border and causing a threat to the regional peace and security.
She noted that this statement is voiced by the Foreign Ministry of the country that has occupied Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions and committed the ethnic cleansing of the Azerbaijanis in these territories.
L. Abdullayeva emphasized that these statements belong to Armenia that has intentionally killed the Azerbaijani border guards protecting the internationally recognized borders of the country on Azerbaijan-Armenia border.
Leyla Abdullayeva also highlighted that the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, as well as the peaceful coexistence of the Azerbaijani and Armenian people on the basis of the rule of law are the main principles for ensuring the security and prosperity of the region.
The MFA spokesperson said that Armenia must immediately and unconditionally withdraw from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and ensure the return of the Azerbaijanis to their native lands: "No one should doubt that Azerbaijan will restore justice and its territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders."
