Azerbaijani President to deliver speech at UN special session

The resolution on "The Special Session of the General Assembly in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19)" was adopted at the plenary session of the UN General Assembly On November 5. 

In accordance with the resolution, it has been decided to hold a special session of the UN General Assembly on December 3-4 at the level of heads of states and governments based on the initiative of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev taken on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement member states. The President of the UN General Assembly, Secretary General, President of the Economic and Social Council and Security Council,  as well as Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as the chairman of the NAM, are expected to deliver a speech at the opening ceremony. 

It is noteworthy that Armenia has always tried to create obstacles for implementing this initiative and prevent the speech of the chairman of the NAM in the opening part of the resolution. Armenia has faced a strict position of the international community, and its attempt has been refused.
