The Azerbaijani national team claimed its first medal at the European Cup among young judokas in Athens, Greece.
Maharram Imamverdiyev, weighing in at 81 kg, won a gold medal, after upsetting Ukraine's Stanislav Korchemliuk in the final.
In addition, Ruslan Nasirov (100 kg), Kanan Nasibov and Huseyn Mammadov (both +100 kg) reached the final. Nasibov and Mammadov will face each other in the decisive match for gold medal for Azerbaijan. Vugar Talibov (90 kg) will compete for bronze.
