The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Olympic Committee issued a joint statement regarding the burning of the Azerbaijani flag at the opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championship held in Yerevan, Armenia.

That the national team refused to participate in the competition. Armenia's failure to provide security was cited as the reason for this.
