Azerbaijani female chess player Ulviyya Fataliyeva won the European Championship held in Rhodes, Greece.
That the 27-year-old grandmaster won first place by scoring 8.5 points in 10 games. In the last round, she drew with Georgian representative Nino Batsiashvili (0.5:0.5).
Ulviyya Fataliyeva went down in history as the first Azerbaijani chess player to be crowned European champion.
First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has congratulated Azerbaijani female chess player Ulviyya Fataliyeva who has claimed a gold medal at the European Women's Chess Championship 2024 held in Rhodes, Greece.
In a post on her official Instagram page, the First Vice-President said: “Dear Ulviyya! I heartily congratulate you on the occasion of a brilliant victory! Thank you very much for your work and determination! I am proud of you! Azerbaijan deserves victories!"
