Azerbaijani delegation meets with Iranian President

A delegation headed by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the State Commission for Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in Economic, Trade and Humanitarian fields Shahin Mustafayev has met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

AZTV.AZ reports that Shahin Mustafayev presented the letter of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to President Hassan Rouhani. He noted that President Ilham Aliyev attached great importance to the friendship and sincere relations with Hassan Rouhani. The Azerbaijani President considers that the friendly relations will contribute to the further development of ties between the two countries, and the bilateral relations will serve the benefit of the people’s.

President Hassan Rouhani expressed gratitude for the letter and asked to convey his sincere greetings to the Azerbaijani President. Hassan Rouhani said that along with being close neighbors, Iran and Azerbaijan are also close friendly and brotherly states.  

Both states play an important role in the North-South International Transport Corridor which is of global significance. The railway line in this project will expand from Iran to Azerbaijan and Russia and from there to Europe. Not only Iran and Azerbaijan, but also other states of the region will benefit from this project: “We are also interested in the development of the trilateral relations between Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia”.

President Hassan Rouhani expressed hope that the mutual cooperation in the fields of tourism, high technologies and ecology between the two countries would also develop.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran Bunyad Huseynov and first deputy chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Azar Zeynalov also took part in the meeting.
