Today, municipal elections are held in Azerbaijan.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said that polling stations have been open for voting since 08:00.
It is noteworthy that this year, 15, 156 members on 1, 606 municipalities will be elected. Overall, 41, 462 candidates are taking part in the elections. 13 parties participate in the elections. 3/1 of candidates are representatives of 13 parties, and 3/2 are independent candidates.
Seven out of 125 constituencies do not take part in the process, as they are located in the areas which are under the occupation of the Armenian armed forces. Overall, besides these 7 constituencies, there are our internally displaced persons in 7 other constituencies, and here, the number of voters is 339, 326. The voting will take place in 5, 049 polling stations.
17 international and 52, 636 local observers will observe the municipal elections.
December 23 has been declared a non-working day in connection with the elections.
