A meeting dedicated to the tasks set for the execution of the instructions given by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the conference dedicated to the results of the first year of the execution of the "State Program on the Social-Economic Development of regions of Azerbaijan in 2019-2023" has been held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev highlighted that consistent and serious achievements have been made in the country as a result of the strong social policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to the PR and Communications Department of the Ministry, it was emphasized at the meeting that revolutionary steps were taken last year for increasing wages and pensions, allowances and scholarships covering 42% of the population at the initiative and instructions of the head of state. The large-scale reforms requiring big finances proved once again that an Azerbaijani citizen is in the center of the successful policy pursued by the head of state, and at the same time, that the revenues obtained from the economic reforms were directed to the welfare of the population.

S. Babayev underlined that the execution of the instructions given by President Ilham Aliyev at the conference at a high level is the main principle of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.

In accordance with the tasks given at the meeting, creating new DOST centers, presenting at least 1, 500 apartments to families or martyrs and war veterans, expanding self-employment programs and tightening the control over paid public work have been discussed. Moreover, the prevention of informal employment and strengthening the activity in the field of the protection of workers' labor rights and the increase of the accessibility of the target social assistance program for low-income families were also mulled. The tasks were discussed in detail, and relevant instructions were given to the appropriate structural departments.

The Minister said that the creation of approximately 40, 000 paid public jobs is a significant social project for reducing unemployment and supporting the population's welfare by ensuring their employment. In accordance with the tasks of the head of state, conducting serious control in this field and ensuring transparency will be the primary tasks of the Ministry. In regard to that, it was decided at the meeting to create a special monitoring group.
