The traditional Novruz festivities to be conducted in March in Baku city and various regions of the Republic have been abolished, the Operative Headquarters under Azerbaijan Cabinet of Ministers reported. It is stated that as a result of the consultations held with experts and recommendations of the World Health Organization, the Operative Headquarters has called on institutions to cancel any mass events in the near future and change the date of the already planned events.

Moreover, it is recommended to cancel weddings and this kind of events and not to hold funerals in a mass way taking into account the high possibility of the spread of the coronavirus.

"To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, as support to the measures taken by the Azerbaijani government, we call on our citizens to stay away from places with the high density of people, closed places, cancel their trips to foreign countries, at the same time, to the countries from the risk group, follow preventive measures during important trips (protective medical masks, special protective glasses, disinfection means and so on)," the information reads.
