As many as 439 business entities have invested 30 million manats ($17.6 million) in Azerbaijan’s Khankandi city, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, according to Elchin Yusubov, the Azerbaijani President’s Special Representative in these regions, Report informs.

 

Yusubov shares this insight at Karabakh University during the diplomatic corps' visit to Khankandi.

He stated that a favorable environment is currently being created for local and foreign investors: "More than 3,000 people will be provided with jobs in these territories by the end of the year."

The official added that, at the same time, the construction of Khankandi Airport continues: "Also, new modern automobile and railway lines are being built here, a modern hydroelectric power station is being put into operation, the use of alternative energy is being expanded based on the green energy principle, and work is being carried out to restore forests that were cut down during the occupation period."

Yusubov noted that a new master plan for Khankandi is also being prepared: "Modern infrastructure work will be implemented in these areas. Demining operations are also being systematically continued at a rapid pace.”

“Villages destroyed during the occupation are being restored. A settlement of 12,000 people has been provided in 7 residential areas in Khankandi, Aghdara, and Khojaly. So far, 136 families have been relocated to Ballija village, 70 families comprising 238 residents to Hasanriz village in Aghdara district, and 180 families comprising 592 residents to Sugovushan village,” he added.

The special representative also highlighted that design work is being carried out in 8 of the 24 villages scheduled for complete restoration and population resettlement by the end of 2025, while restoration and construction work is being implemented in 16 villages."
