An international scientific conference titled "Imperial Structure: Colonial Ideologies and Realities," dedicated to French colonialism, is being held in Baku.

The event is organized by the Baku Initiative Group.

This is the first international conference of scientists who work on decolonization in various UN structures, as well as those specializing in this field.

The scientific conference is attended by experienced UN experts in the field of decolonization, renowned scholars working in former and current French colonies, recognized specialists in international law, ambassadors of foreign countries accredited to Azerbaijan, as well as MPs and others.

The event will deeply analyze the severe consequences of colonial policies, the policies implemented by colonial states towards peoples under subjugation, the methods of discrimination applied, as well as political, economic and cultural restrictions that are part of neocolonialism, and the deliberate policy of erasing national identity.

The discussion will focus on how colonial powers prevent the completion of the decolonization process, which is a requirement of international law and UN resolutions, and in this context, the use of existing opportunities within international organizations, the implementation of effective mechanisms, as well as ways to address systemic inequalities at the level of international organizations.
