Qarabag has secured a place in the UEFA Champions League play-off round after a dominant 5–1 victory over North Macedonia’s Shkëndija in the third qualifying round.
The return leg took place at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku, where the Azerbaijani champions overturned an early deficit to claim a resounding win.
The visitors struck first, with Fabrice Tamba opening the scoring in the 10th minute. However, just five minutes later, parity was restored when Shkëndija’s Klisman Cake turned the ball into his own net.
Qarabag then took full control of the match, with Kady Borges (18’), Nariman Akhundzada (33’), Marko Janković (35’), and Leandro Andrade (59’) all finding the net to seal a comprehensive 5–1 result.
In the first leg, held in Skopje, Qarabag had already earned a 1–0 away win, giving them a convincing 6–1 aggregate victory over the two legs.
With this result, Qarabag—under the guidance of head coach Gurban Gurbanov—advances to the play-off round, where they will face the winner of the tie between Bulgaria’s Ludogorets and Hungary’s Ferencváros for a place in the group stage.
