Istanbul hosts opening ceremony of 152nd Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union

As part of a working visit to Istanbul, Türkiye, a parliamentary delegation led by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, attended the opening ceremony of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

At the event, speeches were delivered by Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly; Tulia Ackson, President of the IPU; Martin Chungong, IPU Secretary General; and Babatunde Ahonsi, UN Resident Coordinator.

The speakers emphasized the importance of the upcoming discussions and wished success to the Assembly’s work.

Held under the theme “Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations,” the Assembly will discuss initiatives to further strengthen the role of parliaments in this area and explore opportunities for cooperation.
