UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) has signed a multi-year cooperation agreement with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Baku City Circuit (BCC) Operations Company.
Under the agreement, UFC Fight Night events are planned to be held in Baku annually until 2028. Within this framework, the first event will take place on June 27 at the National Gymnastics Arena.
UFC’s debut event at Baku Crystal Hall last June attracted over 14,000 spectators, with tickets selling out completely – highlighting the region’s growing interest in MMA.
At a meeting in Las Vegas, UFC President and CEO Dana White and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov discussed sustaining this success and exploring future avenues for partnership development.
Sharing his impressions about Azerbaijan, Dana White described Baku as one of the best cities to visit, praising its beauty, friendly people, top-level hospitality, and knowledgeable, passionate sports fans, and encouraged people worldwide to experience it themselves.
Minister Farid Gayibov emphasized that the UFC partnership strengthens Azerbaijan’s role as a global sports hub, builds on the experience from major events like the European Games and Formula 1, supports MMA development, creates new opportunities for athletes, and confirms the country’s ability to host world-class sporting events.
In turn, Magsud Farzullayev, CEO of the BCC Operations Company, said that after last year’s successful sold-out UFC debut, they are pleased to expand the partnership and host Fight Night events again in Baku, expecting greater interest, more visitors, and a larger, higher-level event.
