The first phase of filming for the second season of the "Horses and Humans" documentary series, produced by the National Geographic channel, has been completed in Azerbaijan.

The filming took place in Baku, Shamakhi, Gobustan, and Aghjabadi.

Directed by Ignacio Sánchez Sorondo, the documentary series explores the ancient equestrian traditions of different peoples.

The first season of the series was filmed in eight countries—Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, India, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Mongolia—while the second season will be filmed in Azerbaijan, as well as in Spain, Colombia, and the United States. The next phase of filming will begin in August–September this year.

The Azerbaijan-filmed episode focuses on the country's rich equestrian heritage and the world-famous Garabagh horses. It also highlights Chovken, a traditional horseback game recognized as the forerunner of modern polo.

The production team plans to release the second season on the Netflix platform.

The filming of the Azerbaijan episode was initiated by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Argentina, sponsored by the International Chovken Federation, and supported by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture, the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency (ARKA) under the Ministry of Culture, the Jafar Jabbarli Azerbaijanfilm Studio, the Garabagh Horse Breeding Farm, and the Shamakhi District Executive Authority.
