On September 18, the opening gala concert of the 1st Kurultai of Composers of the Turkic World was held at the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic Hall.
The concert featured works by composers representing various countries of the Turkic world, as part of the 18th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival.
The program opened with the “Overture” from Uzeyir Hajibeyli's opera Koroghlu, brilliantly performed by the Uzeyir Hajibeyli Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Fuad Ibrahimov, accompanied by Hungarian violinist Sándor László, flautist Nijat Salmanov, and oboist Alim Sadikhov as soloists.
The audience then enjoyed the overture from Muslim Magomayev's opera Shah Ismayil, arranged by Gara Garayev, the duet “By the Spring” from A. Rahimkulova's ballet “Kozy Korpesh–Bayan Sulu,” and Murat Begaliyev Festive Overture.
Among the works performed during the evening were Ö.Gulbey's “Rhapsody” for flute, oboe, and orchestra, R. Nepesov's “Yunus,” R. Abdullayev's “Love Song,” and S. Laszlo's “Transylvanian Dance” for violin and orchestra.
