Representatives of the Albanian-Udi Christian Community in Azerbaijan visited the Ganjasar Monastery Complex in the Vangli village of Aghdara district.
The community representatives performed religious rites and recited prayers at the monastery complex.
Robert Mobili, the chairman of the Albanian-Udi Christian religious community in Azerbaijan, told journalists that the visit held profound significance for them. “It is a profound privilege for our Alban-Udi community to visit today the sacred Ganjasar Monastery Complex to offer prayers and honor the memory of our martyrs. Today carries extraordinary significance, as we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and observe the International Day of Peace, following our national Sovereignty Day yesterday,” he added.
Describing the Ganjasar Monastery as the pearl of Caucasian Albanian architecture, Robert Mobili emphasized the profound significance of the complex within the context of Azerbaijan’s rich Christian heritage.
Highlighting the opportunities unlocked for the Alban-Udi community following the liberation of Garabagh, Robert Mobili said: “Truth has finally been restored. With Garabagh liberated from occupation, our churches have also been liberated from captivity. The spirit of tolerance inherent to the Azerbaijani people and the environment existing in our country give us strength to return and visit these holy sites. This is our native heritage.”
In recognition of its historical and cultural value, the Ganjasar Monastery Complex was placed under state protection as an architectural monument of world importance pursuant to Resolution No. 132 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dated August 2, 2001.
The Ganjasar Monastery Complex is one of the prominent monuments of Caucasian Albania located on the territory of Garabagh.
