Ali Asadov, Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister, met with Kokhir Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of Tajikistan, who is on an official visit to the country at the invitation of the Azerbaijani Prime Minister.
During the meeting, the sides hailed the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, based on friendship and mutual respect. The sides emphasized that the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, signed in 2024, has played an important role in developing bilateral relations.
The meeting highlighted the decisive role played by the political will and joint efforts of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, Ilham Aliyev and Emomali Rahmon, in elevating Azerbaijani-Tajik relations to their current high level.
The parties praised the mutual support provided by the two countries in regional and international organizations.
The Prime Ministers lauded the positive dynamics observed in bilateral trade and the significant potential for further expanding trade and economic cooperation.
The PMs highlighted the importance of the efforts of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission, as well as the Azerbaijan-Tajikistan Business Council and business forum formats, in expanding direct contacts between business communities and implementing new joint initiatives.
The parties discussed ways to make more effective use of existing opportunities for cooperation in the transport and transit sectors.
The Prime Ministers underscored the growing role of the Middle Corridor as a key transport route between Asia and Europe, as well as the additional opportunities created by the Zangezur Corridor within the region’s new transport architecture.
They highlighted good prospects for developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in the field of renewable energy.
The sides also exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation in the provision of public services.
They hailed the development of relations in the cultural, humanitarian, and educational areas. It was noted that the Agreement on the mutual allocation of annual education quotas between the two countries creates additional opportunities for students.
The heads of government also discussed issues related to further deepening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan across all areas and enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation.
