Today marks the International Children's Day.

On June 1, 1950, a decision was made at the International Women's Conference organized by the United Nations General Assembly to dedicate this day to the protection of children. June 1 has been observed as International Children's Day.

The United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Azerbaijan joined it after gaining independence. As in all democratic countries, special importance is attached to the protection of children's rights in Azerbaijan.

All necessary conditions have been created in the country to ensure that children grow up healthy, well-rounded, and become worthy citizens. Children's rights are undoubtedly one of the most important and inseparable parts of human rights. Children are our future, and the future of the country is in their hands.

Today, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which implements the ideas of national leader Heydar Aliyev through its activities, also carries out large-scale initiatives. Mehriban Aliyeva, First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, pays special attention to children in need of special care and those deprived of parental support.

Ensuring children's rights in the country has also encouraged the implementation of various programs aimed at identifying and developing their talents. On the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, particular attention is paid to refugee and internally displaced families, as well as children from low-income backgrounds. Activities are also carried out to promote the inclusion and integration of children with disabilities into society.
