Rafig Mahammad oglu Hashimov, Deputy Chairman of "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" CJSC, was born on August 11, 1966, in the village of Alikend in Ujar district.

He completed his primary education at the school in Guzdek, Absheron district, from 1973 to 1981. From 1981 to 1985, he studied at the Baku College of Telecommunications and Electrotechnics. After completing his military service in the Soviet Army, he began his professional career as a technician at Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company in 1987. In 1990, he won the "Television Announcer" competition and continued his career as a presenter and announcer.

He graduated from the Journalism Faculty of Baku State University in 1997. He has served as a presenter for various programs including "News," official state events, and authored programs like "XX Century" and "Morning." He has also been involved in pedagogical activities in speech culture at Khazar University and the TeleRadio Academy.

He has written screenplays for films such as "The Third Face of the Wind" (1996), "The Grain of Sand" (1997), "The Diary of a Traveler" (2007), "Magister Dixit" (1999), "Sun and Cloud" (2000), "The Dreams of the Reed City" (2006). He has directed and written screenplays for documentary films including "Heydar Aliyev: The Phenomenon of Two Centuries" (2003), "I Call You Stars" (2004), "The Announcer" (2006), "Half-Daily" (2011), "Sattar's Azerbaijan" (2013), "Water of the Flames' Land" (2015), and "The Surgeon" (documentary films).

His stories, essays, and translations into Azerbaijani from world literature classics, including Nobel laureates Herman Hesse, Czesław Miłosz, and Jorge Luis Borges, have been published in the country's newspapers and journals.

Since 2008, he has been a member of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union. By the Decree of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev dated November 4, 1998, he was honored with the title "Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan." By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated February 24, 2020, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" CJSC.

Currently, he is the author and presenter of the projects "XXI Century" and "Book Club."

He is married and has two children.
