The number of people who died in powerful earthquakes in southern Turkiye has reached 18,342, a government agency said early Friday.

Turkiye’s disaster management agency, AFAD, said 74,242 others were injured in Monday’s quakes centered in Kahramanmaras province.

Moreover, 1,509 aftershocks have been recorded in the region.
